|†||School Adjustment Counselor||†|
The role of the School Adjustment Counselor is to provide social, emotional, and personal support to students. Students may meet individually or in small groups with the SAC, though services may include meetings with parents, teachers, administrators, or community health providers to address concerns that may potentially affect a studentís success in school.†The School Adjustment Counselor also works to support a positive and successful school environment through fostering the Dartmouth Middle School motto and way-of-life, R.A.R.E., Responsibility, Accountability, Respect, and Esteem.
Parents may refer their child to the school counselor, as well as teachers or administrators may refer students for counseling, if they have a concern. The SAC will consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to explore causes of problems and effective solutions. The SAC will meet with the student in a one-on-one confidential setting, serve as a liaison for the student and may offer recommendations to home, school, or community resources, such as family service agencies, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, and doctors if applicable.
